WPS Receives $39,000 Phillips 66 Grant

WYANDOTTE, OK--(June 22, 2017)-- Phillips 66 presented $39,000 to the Wyandotte School District on June 21, to purchase 200 laptops for students, making STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education more accessible in the classroom.

Phillips 66 is committed to the quality and pursuit of education to build vibrant and resilient communities near operating areas. The company supports K-12 educational programs, specifically those that promote literacy, STEM education and an understanding of business and the energy industry.

“We are beyond blessed to receive this grant,” said Troy Gray, Superintendent, Wyandotte Public Schools. “Our mission at Wyandotte Schools is to provide our students with the necessary tools to maximize their learning potential.  We take great pride in preparing our students to be successful in the very competitive and advanced workforce they will face in the future.  With this funding we will equip every high school student with their own Chromebook, providing instant information accessibility and new learning opportunities for our students.  Opportunities many never dreamed existed. Thank you Phillips 66 for believing in our students. Summer Office Hours

District site offices (ES, MS, HS) will be open Monday-Thursday, from 8:00am-3:00pm, through the month of June. The Superintendent's office will remain open Monday-Thursday from 8:00am-3:00pm during summer break.  Offices will be closed on all nationally observed holidays.  In the event we are out of the office and you have an emergency need for records, you may contact me at tgray@wyandotte.k12.ok.us.  Have a great summer!

Wyandotte Awarded NFL Grant For Athletic Training

Wyandotte Public Schools has been awarded a $35,000 grant from the NFL Foundation to develop and implement an Athletic Training program over the next 3 years.  The program will begin the 2017-2018 school year and we are excited to provide this opportunity to our students.   Our vision is to establish a program consisting of highly qualified student trainers that will attend all events involving our student athletes. For students interested in the healthcare profession and sports medicine this is a great opportunity.   Applications for the program are located in the HS office and the deadline is June 5, 2017. Baseball State Quarterfinalist

Shawnee, OK: With a 4-1 loss to #2 Silo, the #7 Bears Baseball Team season came to an end here Thursday in the State Quarterfinals. The Bears finished their season with a 25-4 record.  In addition to making the school's first appearance in the Baseball State Tournament, the Bears finished as Conference, District, and Regional Champions.  We would also like to thank our 8 Seniors and wish them the best of luck.  #BFND Go Bears!

Sharon Johnson Named Teacher Of The Year

Wyandotte Public Schools would like to recognize Mrs. Sharon Johnson as the Wyandotte Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Johnson is a career teacher in Kindergarten and we are truly blessed to have her impact the lives of our students and our community.  Mrs. Johnson represents what we are about at Wyandotte Schools.  She loves and treats every student like they are her own.  Congratulation Mrs. Johnson!  Well deserved!!
