District Teacher of the Year

We would like to congratulate Samantha Young for being voted the Wyandotte District Teacher of the Year!

Mrs. Young teaches Computers I and II, Web Design, is the Student Council sponsor and helps run all technology for the district.  She is a leader in professional development, yearly training all staff on technology applications for education, and takes the lead on training new staff every year on classroom technology and the digital gradebook.  She is in charge of the district’s side of Municipal Accounting Systems (Wengage--our online gradebook) and guides the district on troubleshooting all issues related to Wengage.

It is difficult to fully state everything Mrs. Young does for the district because we turn to her for just about everything.  She has proven herself invaluable throughout this last year especially with the move to distance learning and everything that entailed and the constant disruption last semester with COVID running rampant through the area.  She invests in her co-workers across the district, from elementary through high school staff to train, offer new and innovative educational technology options, and her work does not go unnoticed.

When the committee met to vote on building level teachers of the year, they also discussed the contributions made by each of those winners to the overall district. They then voted and Mrs. Young’s contributions in helping to train the rest of the district in technology and create content for all levels won out.

As the Wyandotte Public Schools District Teacher of the Year, she will go on and apply to become the Oklahoma State Teacher of the Year.

Thank you for everything you do Mrs. Samantha Young!
