Elementary teacher of the year Randi Mcelhaney

👩‍🏫🏆Congratulations to the 23-24 Elementary Teacher of the Year!🏆👩‍🏫

The Wyandotte Elementary School Teacher of the Year is Randi McElhaney.  “Mrs. Mac” is a high energy Pre-K teacher with an infectious smile and engaging personality.  She is a great teacher, leader, mentor, and friend.  There were a number of nominations received for “Mrs. Mac.”  Here are a few of the things they had to say about her:

  • Mrs. Mac has taken Wyandotte’s pre-k program to a whole new level. She has worked hard to meet each student where they’re at academically. From writing their names, counting to 50, sight words and reading, these students have been challenged and cheered on from the get go! These students are encouraged to learn through play and be self sufficient little humans. They’re serving themselves in the cafeteria, taking STAR tests and practicing social awareness.

  • I feel that Mrs. Mac goes above and beyond for each one of her students. I’ve watched her set expectations for her class and follow through with them all while showing her students all of the love and support in the world.

  • Prek is hard. A lot of these babies come from never being in a school/classroom setting and those first few weeks are challenging while trying to get the kiddos in a routine. Through the whole process, Mrs. Mac was open minded, patient and encouraging.

  • Randi is always a team player. She is sure to check in on any of her classroom neighbors to see how she can help them succeed. Anytime that Randi has a new technique or idea, she is sure to share them to help other teachers. Randi is a rock star teacher, who can seem to do 15 things at once, always making sure her students are being pushed to the next level.

  • Randi has innovative teaching methods, the ability to engage students effectively, and a commitment to all of the students in not only her classroom, but all students at Wyandotte Elementary. She also inspires students to achieve their best within the walls of the classroom, as well as outside the bounds of the classroom. Randi serves as not only an encouraging friend, but also as a great mentor.

  • Randi is always looking for ways to improve her teaching strategies, by including new and innovative ways to improve her classroom and her students educational opportunities. She is incredibly creative in finding a way to help a student when they are at a stand still. She has a positive influence and encourages others, no matter who she might come across.

  • Randi switched from Kindergarten to Pre-K this year. At the beginning of the year, she was questioning if she had made the right decision. By the second week of school, she knew she had made the right decision and she was loving her new position. She has taught the Pre-K class so well, almost all the students are well above grade level. She has taken on the role of mentor teacher for our building. With this unofficial role, she is always checking in to be sure we are all doing well and asking how she can help us succeed. With this only being her second year teaching, Randi is very knowledgeable in her field, willing to take on anything, and she is always ready to learn new things to improve her students experience.

  • If you ever check into Mrs. Mac's class it would be evident to you that she is very passionate about teaching; but not just teaching in general, but teaching Pre-K. It is common in the Pre-K classroom this year for several of her students to already be reading sight words. Mrs. Mac does not just do what is expected from her as a Pre-K teacher, but she goes above and beyond and challenges those kiddos to go above and beyond

  • Mrs. Mac has taken her first year of Pre-K this year and has made it a mission to challenge every student to push past their boundaries and to grow as students and young men and women. She has always made creative projects and hands on activities that are fun an engaging for her students.

  • My son is  in her class this year. He is always excited to go to his class, he loves his teacher and has grown so much this year.

  •  Mrs. Mac's strengths are that she is a great teacher to work with. She is always willing to help other teachers whenever they are in need. She is passionate about her kids' learning and development. She is creative in teaching methods so that her students are always engaged and enjoying learning.

  • She loves all the kids and adapts to their learning style.  She allows them to explore hands on and makes learning fun!

  • She has been patient with all the new little kids. She has also went over and beyond on teaching them new skills throughout the year!

Help us congratulate our Wyandotte Elementary School Teacher of the Year, Randi “Mrs. Mac” McElhaney!
