Before fall break, our students wrapped up our ecology chapter with an exciting, hands-on 🦉 owl pellet dissection lab! This activity went beyond the textbook , allowing students to become forensic scientists 🧪🔍 as they carefully dissected owl pellets to uncover the tiny bones of prey 🦴🐭.
By getting a little messy and piecing together skeletal remains, students activated prior knowledge and solidified concepts like food chains, food webs, consumers, and energy flow.
This engaging lab provided a fantastic, real-world experience for students to reconstruct the animal food chain and literally trace the path of energy from one consumer to another.`🐁➡️🦉!
