We would like to take the time to recognize our Wyandotte Middle School Teacher of the Year: Ty Earp.
Coach Earp is in his second year at Wyandotte and has made an immediate impact and has already shown great growth from year one to year two. He is entreatable, fun, firm, and engaging as a teacher. He develops relationships with students and student athletes as a teacher and a coach that make him an asset in whatever role we place him in. Here’s some of the things his peers and students had to say about him in their nominations:
⭐️I have a student that is in his second hour class and I have had to observe that student in his class a few times. When in coach Earp's classroom, the kids are engaged, well behaved, and attentive to what is going on. Also, when I ask some students who their favorite teacher is they say coach Earp, which to me speaks volumes.
⭐️Being a young teacher, Coach Earp has created an atmosphere of learning for his students that they seem to enjoy; at least from what I have observed and heard from students.
⭐️I personally feel like Coach Earp deserves this award simply because of his relationship with his students. He has created relationships where his students enjoy being in his class, they run to him outside of the classroom, and they respect him.
⭐️I nominate Ty Earp. His strengths are his personality and classroom management.
⭐️Easiest answer: Ty is good for kids and great for Wyandotte culture. He's only in his second year and already is proving to be a good teacher and an even better person. He is likable, approachable, firm, and someone that kids want to be around.
⭐️I nominate Ty Earp for Teacher of the Year. His greatest contribution probably has a lot to do with his placement in the social sciences. He teaches 6th grade geography. The students coming into his class haven't had a whole lot of male teachers up to this point in their education. The fact that they come in and will have Ty Earp, Rod McKinney (another great teacher), Eddie Jones (great teacher and coach), and Brent Needham (great science teacher), as their core set of teachers, I think sets a tone for what is expected in the middle school. Now, choosing between the great teachers in the middle school and specifically in the sixth grade means I have to choose one of them. I go with Ty Earp because between those four core teachers, he's the one closest to their age, the easiest to approach, and he's a big human being that is easy to like. If I had a sixth grade student, he's someone I'd love for them to look up to (literally and inspirationally).
⭐️Ty Earp is my nomination. Ty is a strong teacher. He is conversational and easy to listen to. He's constantly trying to grow in his craft and get better as a teacher. He's also a coach that has a huge impact on all ages of students. He's good for Wyandotte all around.
⭐️Ty Earp because among other things, he moved into the high school hallway among the other social science teachers this year. He immediately moved into a place of comfortability in the middle of that hallway that made him a likable, approachable part of the middle school staff. His growth as a teacher in educational technologies and in content knowledge continues to impress.
⭐️One particular student had this to say: “He was the offensive line coach and that is my position so that's why I gotta go with my guy Earp.”
Help us in congratulating our Wyandotte Middle School Teacher of the Year: Ty Earp!!!
