After learning about the origins and history of aviation, we’ve now shifted our focus to the future of aviation and space travel. The timing couldn’t have been better as we followed along with the journey of Artemis II!
Students were challenged to research colonizing Mars, and they delivered! They created some incredible models that are now on display under the awning on the west side of the aviation building
Aviation invited classes over to check out their hard work and cast a vote for their favorites
Some interesting facts we discovered:
• Without a space suit, you would freeze, boil, and suffocate all at the same time
• It takes about 1 day to travel to the moon, but 8 months to travel to Mars
• Due to limited cargo space, colonists must use resources available on Mars
• Water would be drilled from ice and even recycled from urine
• Agriculture and food supply are the biggest challenges
I think I’ll stay right here on Earth
