Kinzington Cooper, a Wyandotte senior, is completing a semester-long internship at Family Dental provides an opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience and explore a potential career in dentistry before committing to a college major or career path. 🎓💼
Dentistry is an exciting field that combines science 🧪, art 🎨, hands-on skills 👐, and problem-solving 🧠, while also allowing individuals to make a difference in patients’ lives. It can also provide stability and flexible hours, making it an appealing career option.
Throughout the internship, students have the opportunity to shadow dental hygienists during cleanings and procedures, observe the use of instruments such as periodontal probes, explorers, and scalers, and learn about the daily responsibilities of dental professionals. 🦷🔍 Students also assist with sterilizing equipment and cleaning and resetting rooms, while working alongside dental hygienists and dental assistants. 🧼✨
The experience helps develop important skills such as communication, teamwork, time management, and professionalism. It also provides valuable experience in communicating with nervous patients and working effectively in a fast-paced medical environment. 💬🤝⏰
